NOTE - The Xpilot AI competition proposal has been declined by the WCCI. Sorry folks.
We will be hosting an Xpilot-AI competition, where contestants can pit their best bots against each other.
Rules
The competition will have two parts: a 1v1 (one verses one) duel competition, and a free- for-all competition. Contestants may provide different bots for the two sections. The maps and the server settings for each section are fixed and will be made available once the contest is approved. The results and rankings of this competition will be posted online.
Submission
To enter the competition, contestants must submit a bot program, along with instructions on how to compile and run it, by 11 July 2010. If there are any dependencies in the program outside of what is provided by the Xpilot-AI libraries, they must be bundled along with the program, with instructions for building them. The program is responsible for running the Xpilot client. Any method of autonomous control is allowed. A proper mailing address will be set up soon. For now, you may send your bot programs to darroyo@conncoll.edu
1v1 Section
The duel section of this competition will be conducted round-robin style. Every program will get a chance to face every other program for a game with a duration of 30 minutes with starting positions randomized after every kill. The program with the highest score wins. The program with the most wins after the round-robin will be deemed the winner of this section of the competition. If there is a draw, overtime rounds will be played.
Free for all Section
For the free for all section of the competition, all bot programs will be placed on a large Xpilot map such as "The Core". Starting positions are randomized and play continues for 24 hours. After this time, the player(s) with the highest score wins.
